MISSION BOARD REPORT
Board Meeting on 01.09.2013
Fr. Maroney expressed his appreciation for the prayer and spiritual support he received from St. Brendan’s especially during the recent Hurricane Sandy that all but destroyed the rectory and surrounding property.
Father Maroney announced that St. Gabriel School will do a Service Learning Project to raise funds to contribute to St. Brendan’s building project.
To show spiritual support for St. Brendan’s, Fr. Maroney will celebrate Mass for St Brendan’s Feast Day (May 16, 2013); however the Mass will be held on May 19, 2013. It is hoped that Fr. David and Fr. Comfort who both served at St. Brendan’s for many years and who are both studying at Notre Dame University, Indiana can be present for this Mass.
St Gabriel School children will pass out prayer cards before the Mass.
Suzette Hallstrom is working to obtain a statue of St. Brendan for display near our altar.
The Mission Board is considering a “Buy a Brick” Project to raise funds for the building project. This event will be after the Archbishop’s Appeal is over. MISSION BOARD REPORT
Board Meeting 12.27.2012
Fr. David Eliaona, CSC who served at St.Brendan's until his assignment to study at Notre Dame University, represented St. Brendan's at this meeting. He announced that newly assigned pastor Fr. Prosper Tesha, CSC hopes to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the church's founding in October, 2014 with the opening of a new church building to replace the existing one.
Fr. David then displayed the architectural plans for the new church.
When asked about how else could St. Gabriel assist St. Brendan's, Fr. Eliaona mentioned the need for scholarship funds for the Audrey Veldman School on campus to assist needy students to continue their schooling.
The Mission Board is looking for donors to help with this scholarship need. If you are interested, contact Jane Holler at firstname.lastname@example.org or through the parish office 203-877-6096.

The meeting opened with a prayer then Jane Holler and Dan Marecki asked for reports.
Richard Wheeling passed out a flyer he worked on for the parish bulletin board. Everyone agreed that it was just the ticket. One correction mention that the title should read "Re-Building God's House"
Suzette Hallstrom reported on her research on the name St. Brendan and her search for a statue of same. She stated that she called St. Brendan of New Haven to ask about the possibility of St. Gabriel Mission Board using a statue of St.Brendan. Theirs was 6 feet tall and heavy She then investigated at St. Anthony Book Store of Seymour, CT where she obtained a small statue of St Brendan the Navigator. Br. Larry mentioned that Monestery Icon's may have a St Brendan plaque for between $25 and $50. He will check it out and report on it. Suzette also reported that she found sample prayer cards and their the price. was $104 for 400. These prayer cards would be distributed by St.Gabriel's school children at the celebration of St Brendan's Feast Day Masses on the weekend of May 18th.
A discussion was held regarding the start of the fundraising campaign known as "Buy a Brick" towards the rebuilding of St. Brendan's church. The purchase price for one brick will be $10 and the campaign would begin around Father's Day in June. Richard Wheeling will create a poster for the campaign. It will be "brick-ometer" with the amount of $10,000 as a goal to reach.
An e-mail letter from Fr. Prosper Tesha CSC was then read by Jane Holler.

We are very busy here trying to prepare for the Lenten Season along with parish meetings for the new church structure. There meetings are many and I believer will bear fruit. Members are so committed and are trying to put in place all possible ways of raising some funds locally. Please continue to pray for us as we continue with the plans for the big Jubilee Celebrations.
I wish you all the best and may Almighty God continue to bless you and the people of St. Gabriel. We love you all.
A discussion was held about meeting with Fr. Comfort an was held about meeting with Fr. Comfort and Fr. David who will be with us for Easter. They will arrive on March 27th and we will hold a meeting that same night. The time and location TBA.

October 2012 Board Meeting

Present: Jane Holler, Suzette Hallstorm, Dan Marecki, John and Rose Marie Marmolejo, Patricia Pritchard, Richard Wheeling.
Excused: Maureen Gorman, Jonlynn Vancho.
Jane and Dan, co-chairs of the Mission Board at St. Gabriel, Milford opened the meeting with prayer and a brief reflection written by Fr. Comfort Agele, CSC, St. Brendan's pastor. Then sandwiches, salads and drinks were served and eaten in the living room while all were treated to the photos and videos taken by Dan and Jane during their October visit to St. Brendan, Kitete, Tanzania. All were pleasantly surprised by a visit from Natalia Bakilana, a neighbor born in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania who was invited to view the photos along with the group.
Discussion was held on the 2009-2010 priorities of St. Brendan from a direct conversation with the St. Brendan's parish staff. Notes were read; questions and answered were made on each priority.
The group decided to assist St. Brendan by choosing the priority of Lostete Medical Facility and its needs.
Since inquiries have come in regarding making donations to St. Brendan for Christmas, it was decided that a flyer would be developed and included in the parish bulletin the week of December 7 with a simply reference to Envelopes available in the foyer of the church. Envelopes could be mailed or dropped in the collection basket.
Patricia Pritchard would consult with Fr. Maroney of the above decision.
The main fundraising would take place during the Valentine weekend - February 13-14. It would benefit Lostete Medical Center.
A flyer and posted would be crafted with the Valentine theme of Love. Envelopes would be printed for this project.
An opportunity for Jane Holler and Dan Marecki to speak to the parishioners 10 minutes before Mass on the weekend of February 6-7 and show a brief 5-6 minute video so that parishioners could get the feel of St.Brendan, our sister parish.
The presentation would report on the highlights of the previous donations for goats, scholarships for the Audrey Veldman Technical School sponsored by St. Brendan on its campus, scholarships for two catechists, and the portable public address system.
Jane will contact Fr. David Eliaona,CSC to ask him to send periodic e-mail and photos to update the parish community via the web site: www.kiteteparish.org.
Patricia Pritchard volunteered to compose the weekly intercessions for St. Brendan.
John Marmolejo volunteered to put together the 5 minute video for the February presentation.
